Our latches are perfect for stable doors or trailer doors, and they provide peace of mind knowing your horses are safe and sound. Available in multiple styles, the best option for your door depends on how you want it to function, giving you flexibility to match your needs.
For added durability and performance, we recommend using at least two door latches per door system — one for each side of the door. This ensures maximum security and ease of use.
Two Types of Horse Door Latch Systems
At Stablecraft, we offer two kinds of horse door latches and keepers: ones with spacers and ones without. The difference between having spacers and not having spacers comes down to the design of the door.
- Without spacers: Latches sit flat against the door’s base plate, ideal for doors with a flat edge.
- With spacers: Latches are extended about 12mm to accommodate doors with recessed edges, ensuring a snug and secure fit.
The latch mechanism itself features a 3mm back plate and a 16mm rod sliding through the bolt. This ensures smooth, reliable operation, whether you're using the latch with spacers or not.
We also offer versatile installation options, as our latches can either be screwed on or welded on to steel or timber doors, providing the flexibility to match your setup.
